On the face of it that seems like a strange title. As a nation of drivers we are bombarded with more rules and regulations than you can shake a spanner at whilst at the same time being pursued by the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Surely we motorists are getting a raw deal?
Having A Breakdown
In fact, no: Even with the gloom of Brexit hanging over us we should still look on the bright side. For example, our cars do not break down anywhere near as much as they used to. Vehicles inevitably are not totally reliable, at least not yet, and when incidents do occur they tend to be big and costly. By and large though cars are far more reliable than they used to be, thanks to modern manufacturing methods.
In times past it would be commonplace to see a car at the roadside with steam coming out of it. Some readers may have experienced this and know that when it happens it is always raining. The cause was usually it was either a hole in the radiator or a faulty thermostat. Today, do motorists even know what a thermostat is? Breaking down is no fun.
Things Can Only Get Better
Thankfully, the mainstream cars of today are more fuel efficient, don’t pollute anywhere near the amount of emissions that vehicles used to chuck out a scant twenty or thirty years ago, and last much longer without rust appearing like a nasty skin disease. Road tax, in the main, is proportionately cheaper and so on.
Today’s car buyers are spoiled for choice. The selection of vehicles available is vast and there is something for every budget. Almost any car available now is capable of going huge distances with passengers being cosseted in comfort, listening to tunes through quality speakers while the navigation sorts out the route. They will be warm and dry and connected. The days of stuffy interiors reeking of strange wet dog smells and fogged up windows are long gone thanks to air-conditioning which also happens to trap pollen and dust.
Travel In Style
Despite all the rules the freedom of the open road is ours for the asking and mercifully free of those minor breakdowns that pestered 20th Century drivers. True, this has always been so, but never so easily. We can get everything we want thanks to plentiful Fuel stations and rest and food stops, even if some motorway service areas leave a lot to be desired.
Yes, for balance it is fair to say there are drawbacks. Our roads are not in the sort of condition we would prefer. Potholes can cause inconvenient and costly breakdowns. Fuel is expensive to buy but conversely car makers are producing vehicles that will squeeze many more miles out of a gallon allowing us to go further, faster and safer. Thus motoring has never been better and at eCars247 we too will go the extra mile to offer a great range of one-owner, AA inspected cars to suit all bank balances.
