Cars today have a far superior build quality than those of even thirty years ago, thanks to modern manufacturing methods. They are safer too; the advance of autonomous technology has helped to add safety features not conceived of even twenty years ago. In other words, although an expensive purchase, we do get our money’s worth and that very much includes the used car market.
There are some great bargains available but the sensible buyer always makes sure the due diligence has been done.
Here’s The Used Car Good News
Buying a new car, although a great experience, means instant depreciation as soon as the vehicle is driven off the dealer forecourt. It makes sense therefore to purchase a used car; that initial depreciation is in the past and most previously owned vehicles have as many of the options we like as a new vehicle has. Good news indeed.
Then The Bad News
The bad news is that, even now in the 21st Century, unsuspecting car buyers can fall foul of fraud. Without taking care it is easy to be fleeced of all that hard-earned money. There are several popular websites globally where people can buy and sell their belongings and the market for cars is strong as keen buyers seek out the bargains. This is when the spectre of deposit fraud can materialise.
This involves the seller asking the prospective buyer to put down a large deposit to secure the purchase of vehicle. Once given the mysterious seller can disappear without trace. These thieves will often use high-pressure methods to attempt this scam. The risk is that the car, although paid for, will never turn up. Don’t fall for it. That’s why it’s best to deal with an online dealer with a proven, trusted track record.
It’s Not All Bad News
To be fair, most car deals are fine but it still pays to know more about the vehicle being acquired. It may look good on the internet images but what’s the hidden history? For example, there is a breed of unscrupulous criminals who will get hold of two damaged cars, written off by the insurers, and make one apparently good vehicle out of them. It looks fine but a vehicle check will instantly reveal that the car with that registration has previously been damaged beyond repair; it’s a death trap.
This is why the extra good news is that all our cars have been HPI-checked to ensure there is no hidden history or murky dealings. What’s more, all our cars are inspected by the AA to ensure that they are all they seem to be. We have a huge range of models on our website with something for everyone. Don’t worry if you are miles away; we can even offer delivery options.
